Confined Space Training
Confined Space Awareness
This course is intended for personnel who have not been exposed to confined spaces. This program meets the training requirements that allow workers to have adequate knowledge on the procedures to enter and work in confined spaces as required by applicable international regulations. This training includes not only the applicable regulations, but also air monitoring and scenario based evolutions based on the company’s procedures. Course Content Define a confined space Identify types of confined spaces Explain the different hazard types found in spaces Mitigate hazards and perform control techniques Understand applicable provincial/state or international regulations Utilize personal protective equipment Understand the major causes of fatalities/accidents Understand the elements of a confined space entry program Comprehend basic atmospheric monitoring concepts Understand entry and safe work procedures Understand entry permits Duration The course is completed in 1 day Target Group Safety Managers and Supervisors Health and Safety Personnel Practical users of confined space Certification On successful completion of this course participants will receive a National Association of Safety Professionals Certificate and Card. It is recommended that this certificate be renewed every 3 years.
Confined Space Entry Training
Many workplaces contain spaces that are considered "confined" because their configurations hinder the activities of employees who must enter, work in, and exit them. A confined space has limited or restricted means for entry or exit, and it is not designed for continuous employee occupancy. Confined spaces include, but are not limited to underground vaults, tanks, storage bins, manholes, pits, silos, process vessels, and pipelines. The Confined Space Entry Program offers comprehensive coverage of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.146 and meets all applicable training standards. In the classroom, the course introduces the student to the requirements of entry procedures as stated in the OSHA regulation. Participants are exposed to “Hands-on” training with a mobile simulator. Course Content What is a confined space and what are the hazards? Confined spaces regulations Avoiding the need for entry Risk assessments and safe systems of work including permits to work Equipment required to enter a confined space The purpose and use of gas detection equipment and escape breathing apparatus The use of ropes and safety harnesses The purpose and use of tripods and man riding winches Ventilation and the avoidance of unsafe atmospheres Manpower including training requirements Communication and entry procedures Practical exercise and assessments Duration The course is completed in 2 days Target Group Safety Managers and Supervisors Confined Space Entrants Emergency Response personnel Certification On successful completion of this course participants will receive a National Association of Safety Professionals Certificate and Card. It is recommended that this certificate be renewed every 3 years.
Confined Space Entry and Rescue Training
This course is intended for individuals that will be employed as rescue persons in a confined space capacity, but not in an IDLH environment. Personnel are trained in not only the hazards and entry requirements of confined spaces, but also some of the required rescue competencies as outlined in NFPA 1006, NFPA 1670 and OSHA 1910.146. The competencies include but are not limited to, ropes and knots, hazard recognition and appropriate control measures, patient packaging, atmospheric monitoring and toxicology. The course concludes with practical scenarios of varying difficulty in multiple types of confined spaces. Course Content Identify types and classes of confined spaces Comprehend regulations in regards to confined space rescue Utilize hazard recognition and mitigation techniques Perform basic emergency scene management Understand and utilize confined space documentation Choose appropriate ventilation types and techniques Choose and operate personal protective equipment Understand toxicology in relation to monitoring Use atmospheric monitoring equipment Understand team positions and responsibilities Rig rescue systems for confined spaces Understand tripod rigging and use Build simple and compound mechanical advantage systems Utilize rescue ropes and tie applicable knots Package a patient in an appropriate device Duration The course is completed in 5 days Target Group Safety Managers and Supervisors Confined space entrants and rescuers Practical users of confined space Emergency Response personnel Persons requiring refresher training Certification On successful completion of this course participants will receive a National Association of Safety Professionals Certificate and Card.
